His Excellency Governor of Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom state, has inspected the ongoing construction of the Agric Equipment Leasing Company located at Ekpri Nsukara in Uyo, a major initiative aimed at boosting mechanised farming across Akwa Ibom State.
During the inspection, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening agriculture as a key driver of economic growth and food security in the state.

The facility, which is nearing completion, is designed to provide farmers with access to tractors and other modern agricultural equipment at subsidized rates.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve farming efficiency, increase productivity, and support the expansion of large-scale agriculture across the state.
Already, more than 25 tractors have been deployed to the facility as part of the state government’s efforts to modernize farming operations and make mechanized agriculture more accessible to local farmers.
Governor Eno noted that the project aligns with the administration’s development blueprint, the ARISE Agenda, which places strong emphasis on agriculture, rural development, and economic empowerment.
He also revealed that as the rainy season approaches, the state government is set to commence its tree-crop revolution programme. Under the initiative, palm seedlings will be distributed to farmers across the state to promote large-scale cultivation and strengthen the agricultural value chain.
According to the governor, the combined efforts of mechanized farming support and the tree-crop programme are expected to boost food production, improve farmers’ earnings, and position Akwa Ibom State as a major agricultural hub in Nigeria.
Agriculture, he stressed, remains a critical pillar of the state’s development strategy under the ARISE Agenda.
