GWAGWALADA, FCT — The Special Assistant on Rural Women Mobilisation to the Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Hajiya Saratu Alhassan, has met with women leaders from the 10 wards of the council to discuss grassroots mobilisation strategies ahead of the 2027 FCT senatorial election.

The meeting, held under the banner of Gwagwalada Women for Aduda 2027, focused on proposed community engagement initiatives, voter education and strategies to encourage residents to participate in the electoral process, as the women leaders discussed their plans in support of Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda’s anticipated political comeback.
During the meeting, the women leaders highlighted challenges confronting women and residents in their respective wards, offering suggestions on how the identified concerns could be addressed through improved engagement, collaboration and responsive leadership.
A key issue discussed was the proposed commencement of a house-to-house campaign to engage residents directly, communicate the group’s political message and encourage participation in the 2027 elections.
The women also emphasised the importance of voter education, particularly helping eligible voters understand the voting process, identify their preferred candidates and correctly cast their ballots on election day.
They expressed the need for increased grassroots awareness to prevent a recurrence of the challenges they believe affected their preferred political outcome during the 2023 FCT senatorial election.
Hajiya Saratu Alhassan, in her response, assured the women leaders that their concerns and demands would receive attention, pledging to work towards addressing the issues raised during the meeting.
She also acknowledged the importance of women leaders in community engagement and grassroots political participation, noting that sustained communication with residents would remain central to the group’s proposed activities.
The meeting concluded with discussions on strengthening coordination among women leaders across the 10 wards, improving community outreach and establishing a more organised grassroots engagement structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Gwagwalada Women for Aduda 2027 initiative is expected to focus on ward-level engagement, voter awareness and community mobilisation as preparations for the next electoral cycle continue.
