The Forum of 2027 APC Female Aspirants Network (FAFAN) on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe G. Yilwatda, in Abuja.
The delegation, made up of women from across the country aspiring to various elective positions in the 2027 general elections, met with the party chairman to express their support and engage on key party matters.
Speaking after the meeting, Prof. Yilwatda said he was deeply inspired by the group, noting the remarkable number, quality, and courage of the female aspirants.
He described their emergence as a rare and proud moment for the APC, highlighting the presence of a strong and credible pool of women leaders ready to serve the nation.
He acknowledged their growing contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape and commended their commitment to advancing the party’s ideals.
The APC chairman also appreciated the group’s endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party leadership, stating that such support reinforces the APC’s shared vision and strengthens its resolve as preparations intensify ahead of the national convention and beyond.
Emphasizing the need for inclusivity, Prof. Yilwatda stressed that true federal character must reflect gender balance.
He described women as not just participants in democracy, but as key drivers of transformation, citing their resilience, creativity, and strong capacity for mobilization and leadership.
Reaffirming the party’s stance, he said the APC remains committed to expanding opportunities for women, ensuring fair participation, and promoting policies that enhance their economic, educational, and political empowerment.
“When women rise, the nation rises,” he said.
He further urged the aspirants to remain steadfast, organized, and united in their pursuit of elective offices, encouraging them to strengthen their networks and stay focused on victory.
“They are not just running; they are running to win,” he added.
The visit highlights increasing momentum among female political leaders within the APC as the 2027 elections approach, underscoring a broader push for gender inclusion in Nigeria’s democratic process.
