A new chapter has commenced at the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning following the assumption of office by the newly appointed Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning.
On her first day in office, Hon (Dr) Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite was formally received by the Honourable Minister, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, marking the beginning of what he described as a critical phase in Nigeria’s economic transformation journey.

Speaking during the assumption of duty, Dr. Nkiruka outlined the Federal Government’s ambitious target of building a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
She emphasized that achieving this goal would require a strong partnership between the public and private sectors.
According to Dr. Nkiruka, the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda hinges largely on private sector participation.
She noted that while the government is responsible for providing about 5 percent in terms of strategic direction, policy stability, and an enabling environment, the remaining 95 percent of economic growth would be driven by innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.
The Minister further assured that efforts would be intensified to ensure that Nigeria’s national budgeting framework, alongside the forthcoming 2026–2030 National Development Plan, serves as a catalyst for investment, enhanced security, and infrastructure development across the country.
She also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in the new capacity, pledging his commitment to advancing policies that will strengthen the nation’s economy.
The development signals renewed momentum within the Ministry as it aligns its strategies with the administration’s broader economic vision.
